Simon is a British born award winning media/entertainment expert and investor dedicated to driving innovation and delivering exceptional results, who, over his career has been directly responsible for over $300B of consumer product retail sales.
Aside from Philips' many philanthropic endeavours, Simon currently serves as President of Falcon's Beyond Global, Inc., a global entertainment powerhouse and a visionary leader in immersive storytelling NASDAQ ticker FBYD.
Philips established and led Moonbug Entertainments ground breaking and award winning consumer products program, featuring some of the most loved characters in the world, including CoComelon and Blippi.
Simon was previously the Executive Vice-President & General Manager, The Walt Disney Company, Europe, the Middle East & Africa.
He brought to life the characters and stories of four iconic brands—Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, and Marvel—through the licensing business across hard-lines, soft-lines, FMCG and publishing; a robust gaming slate including digital and console platforms, Disney’s direct-to-consumer e-commerce strategy and The Disney Stores. Philips also managed the Company’s relationships with third-party retailers as well as the Company’s website strategy and deployment.
In his previous role as President of Marvel Entertainment International, Philips was responsible for targeting new businesses, as well as growing and increasing the depth of Marvel's existing businesses. Philips served as President of Global Consumer Products, President of Global Animation and President of Global Gaming.
Simon oversaw and acted as the Executive Producer for many of Marvel’s hit animated series including Super Hero Squad, The Avengers – Earth's Mightiest Heroes and the Marvel Japanese anime series.
Philips joined Marvel from 4Kids Entertainment, where he served as the Managing Director of 4Kids Entertainment International and managed the international multi-billion-dollar Pokémon, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Yu-Gi-Oh franchises.
Prior to 4Kids, Philips established LDI, a media and entertainment company whose reach would span the Middle East, Mediterranean Basin and Latin America. LDI became one of the leading independent licensing agents in the world. Whilst at LDI, Philips diversified its business interests into broadcast media and production through the acquisition of The Dori Media Group,
Philips started his licensing career in London in 1991, working on behalf of the British Olympic Association, where he licensed the world’s first Olympic-branded video game, which was also the first video game to include third-party advertising.
